SPY STORY aka 'Len Deighton's Spy Story' [1976] WIDESCREEN DVD:
Patrick Armstrong returns from a long holiday to find his apartment occupied by someone impersonating him. Unknown to him a deadly calculated wargame is being played out by the CIA and MI5 with his life in the balance. In this array of East-West political intrigue, Armstrong finds himself involved in kidnappings, attempted murder and espionage. He is sent to the Arctic where the Russian Northern Nuclear Fleet is based, however this turns out to be a trial run for a far more important mission, one where East-West relations could completely collapse. Based on the bestseller by Len Deighton (The Ipcress File)

Good acting from well known actors and intelligent script. But loses its way with inscrutable plot and relatively slow pace.
